After another morning of productive group time gaining tools to navigate the challenges they face, families set off for the Disney parks with their park hopper passes. Despite the crazy winter weather moving through the Southeast, we had another sunny day in Orlando with highs in the 60’s.
It was perfect weather for the Disney Marathon – 26.2 miles through the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. This year, Team Inheritance of Hope had 30 runners participating in the 5k, Half Marathon, Full Marathon and even the Goofy Challenge, which includes both the half and full marathons. Team IOH raises support to help make it possible for Inheritance of Hope to provide Legacy Retreats at no cost to participants. Runners raised over $30,000, which covers about half of the expenses for this event.
Now we’re getting ready for Kid’s Night Out, a chance for parents to have a date – a concept that many participants have virtually forgotten! Youth will have dinner with staff and volunteers before heading back to the Magic Kingdom. Disney resort guests (we’re staying at Coronado Springs Resort) have an opportunity to spend an extra 3 hours in the park after it closes.
Today we were also happy to help Brittanie Newcome celebrate her 21st birthday! Can’t think of a better place to celebrate this exciting milestone!!
Happiest Birthday Brittanie … We’re writing from North Carolina to wish you the very best birthday you’ve ever had! Blessings to you.
