Today we pause to honor the memory of our friend Gerry Moors. Gerry, of Pine Bush, NY, died on August 25 at the age of 78. He had been diagnosed with mesothelioma lung cancer in September 2009. Along with his wife, Joan, and his daughter, Maryalice, Gerry organized the Gerry Moors Golf Outing at Winding Hills Golf Course in Montgomery, NY, beginning in 2010. Inheritance of Hope was the sole benefactor of those efforts, which raised over $34,000 in support of young families facing a parent’s life-threatening illness.
Gerry will be remembered as a generous and caring friend. Maryalice said the following about his support of Inheritance of Hope:
“In keeping with his motto he would like to give back to people who give so much, hence our Golf Outing. We have a very dear friend, Lucia Rein, who has firsthand experience with Inheritance of Hope. My father and Lucia share a special bond. Knowing what you have done for her and her family, we would like to help you, IoH, in your journey to give hope and to heal. Thank you for allowing us to take part in your unique quest!”
Here are Gerry’s own words about what Inheritance of Hope meant to him:
“No family should ever have to endure such pain. I am so honored and proud to be an extended arm of Inheritance of Hope’s family. IoH’s unconditional love and inspiration transcend through every person they touch.”
Thank you, Gerry, for your inspiration and friendship even in the midst of your own challenges. We are honored to have you as part of the Inheritance of Hope family. May you rest in peace.
