Inheritance of Hope Launches New Child Life Volunteer Program

A Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) is a professional who works with medically complex families to normalize medical experiences, provide psychosocial support, and advocate for the needs of the family. The process of becoming certified is often a difficult one, especially when it comes to gaining experience. That’s why Ellie Ledin, Legacy Video™ Manager and CCLS, created the Child Life Volunteer Program with Legacy Videos™ – a completely virtual opportunity that focuses on building up future Child Life professionals who have a heart for coming alongside the brokenhearted.
This program allows students to gain valuable experience working with medically complex families in various roles. Four new students were recently onboarded, and they will soon become Legacy Video™ Coaches who help terminally ill parents record stories and messages for their loved ones. Additionally, these students will receive mentorship, participate as facilitators in the kids and teens Hope@Home™ Groups, and complete an extensive volunteer program with invaluable resources to equip them to enter the Child Life field as competitive candidates.
Rachel, one of the new Child Life students writes, “What excites me about Inheritance of Hope is the fact that their mission to support families facing the loss of a parent is deeply rooted in Christ’s love and compassion.”
