Meet Andrea. She and her family of 7 were served at the Orlando Legacy Retreat® in May 2017. Her husband Jim passed away from multiple myeloma in August 2017 when her children were 4, 7, 9, 12, and 14. She admits that during their retreat Jim was so exhausted and in so much pain that they were very reliant on their incredible volunteers to make it all happen. Last year when our Groups Manager, Tessa Martinson, reached out to Andrea to tell her about our newest IoH Program, Hope Hub™ coming to her area, Andrea was thrilled to be part of it. She jumped at the opportunity to help Tessa find a location to meet and has been instrumental in getting that Hope Hub™ off the ground. At the launch event, her children expressed their excitement to be back involved with Inheritance of Hope and even her hesitant teenage son has been enthusiastic about the monthly gatherings with his IoH friends. Serving with Hope Hub™ also spurred Andrea to want to serve at a Legacy Retreat® and with her volunteer application she stated “I’m open to what God has in store. It’s been 5 years of hard work and healing since losing Jim and I feel God has prepared my heart so I have something to share with others.” Andrea is our local Hope Hub™ contact for D.C. and has now severed at multiple Legacy Retreats®.
