The Whole Body

keyboard

I am not a very fast typist. However, to my children (ages 10 and 8) I am a superstar typist.

When my children walk into the room and I am working on my computer they usually comment on how fast my fingers are moving on the keyboard.  They are amazed at the clicking sound my nails make when I type quickly and they often try to replicate it when they play on the computer. Clearly, my fingers are important for typing but my brain, my eyes, and my internal organs are all functioning to help me.

There are many parts to a body. Some parts everyone can see and other parts are working so hard but are not visible and rarely noticed.  I think about the heart that is constantly pumping life-giving blood throughout the entire body.  I think of the brain that during the writing of this blog is firing thousands of electrical impulses to, not only provide the words for me to write, but also move my fingers to the write keys and keep my lungs breathing and my eyes processing the letters on the screen.  I could go on and on.

I am excited and proud to be a part of a healthy working body in the organization of Inheritance of Hope. There are many amazing parts to the body. Some that are well seen and admired and others that go un-noticed by many but are very vital to the proper functioning of the body.

prayerI feel like the heart of Inheritance of Hope lies in the prayer team.  This group of committed individuals pray for all of our Legacy Retreats.  They pray for each family and volunteer that attends the retreats. They pray for specific logistical details and needs that come up. They pump life-giving blood through the organization through their consistent prayers. We count on this consistency and the strength that comes through it’s life-giving power.

If you want to be a part of the heart of Inheritance of Hope and serve on our prayer team please visit our website and sign up to join this online community group.  It would be a pleasure to serve alongside you! (I guess in this blog I represent the fingers but usually I am probably more like the mouth. 😉
