Happy New Year!

Now is the time of year when we consider all that the past year held for us, and ponder what the year ahead will bring.  This can stir up a vast array of emotions . . . hope, worry, excitement, fear, gratitude, fatigue, doubt, peace, longing, joy . . . sometimes several at once.

As I look ahead to a new year, I only know this for absolute sure . . . The Lord God is in charge of all of my days, He always has been and always will be, and He is good.  He is worthy to be trusted . . . no matter what emotions I feel or circumstances I face.  He is with me.  And I know the same is true for you, too, no matter how you feel or what you face . . . He is with you, He is worthy to be trusted, and He is good.

If that is difficult for you to embrace right now, I encourage you to consider memorizing Philippians 4:4-8 . . . It is a powerful reminder as we press on.



Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again:  Rejoice! 


Let your gentleness be evident to all. 


The Lord is near. 



Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 


Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.
