Building a Legacy

Moments turn into hours, hours into days, days into weeks, and then one day we will take our last breath, equaling our lifetime.

National Legacy Day™ is May 21 – a day set aside to reflect on those who have given us a legacy with the gift of their life, their example, and their impact. I also want to challenge you to lean into that word: Legacy. Pause for a moment and think: What is my legacy? What am I building?

I lost my husband almost four years ago. His life, and his impact as a son, husband, dad, pastor, and friend will never be forgotten. I reflect on all the things he has missed and it challenges me to personally not take today for granted. Bryan would have given anything to be here these next few weeks to watch his daughter graduate high school and his other daughter get married. His impact and presence will be greatly missed. But even though Bryan is not here today, he built a legacy till his final breath and even after. His story lives on in our memories and the reflection of our lives.

Bryan doesn’t have today, but my kids and I do.

I don’t want to waste one moment or hour, I don’t want to lose a day, a week, or ultimately my lifetime. I want to make a difference!

We can make a difference in others’ lives, help create memories, and provide support and hope in a family’s life during their darkest days through Inheritance of Hope.

May Bryan’s legacy continue to live on through my family as we serve and love the families of IoH. May our legacy reflect the comfort we have received and may we create a legacy of hope.

We all have today – let’s build a legacy!

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

– 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
