The 1st annual Gerry Moors Golf Outing took place last year on June 22nd at Winding Hills Golf Course in Montgomery, NY.  47 golfers hit the links, raising $11,868.21 to help young families who have a parent with a life-threatening illness build their legacies through Inheritance of Hope’s Legacy Retreats.  Assisting in the event, Kohl’s provided 7 volunteers and a $500.00 donation through their Kohl’s Cares for Kids program.

Prizes were given for the top 3 finishers, closest to the hole, and closest to the line.  In keeping with Inheritance of Hope’s mission, all of the prizes were chosen with the thought of capturing memories.  The top finisher received a Nikon camera.  Other prizes included 2 digital media players/recorders, a Blackberry Storm, 2 Bell-Howell underwater digital cameras, Mets baseball tickets, gift baskets and more.  A continental breakfast, lunch and drinks were included in the registration fee.

Our warm thanks to Maryalice Moors for organizing last year’s and this year’s events!  The golf outing started as an idea last spring.  Maryalice had wanted to support Inheritance of Hope, specifically by running with Team IOH in the 2010 ING NYC Marathon.  Inheritance of Hope did not receive a charity spot in the race, but that did not stop Maryalice.

DSC_0202My Dad was recently diagnosed with mesothelioma and he responded very well so far to chemo and he’s feeling strong, and in that strength he would like to give back.  So we are having a fund raising golf outing on June 22 and would like to donate the proceeds to IOH.  You have done so much for Lucy and her family, it’s important for us to know that whatever we generate will make a difference, and IOH we know first hand does.  ~ Maryalice, May 2010

Maryalice and her family have generously supported Inheritance of Hope.  Both Maryalice and Gerry golfed in the outing and, Maryalice also completed the 2010 Marine Corps Marathon and the 2011 NYC Half Marathon with Team IOH.

I was blessed to be a part of last year’s golf outing, and I need to tell you it was a blast!  Come out and join us on June 18th – you will be glad you did! Register as a single golfer or register with friends as a foursome – golf, a continental breakfast, lunch and prizes are included in the registration fee.  If you would rather not golf, you are invited to join us for a barbeque lunch at 2:00 pm.  There are also a variety of opportunities to be a sponsor: hole sponsors, raffle sponsors, gift basket sponsors, food sponsors and awards sponsors are all welcome.  Golfers, sponsors and lunch attendees can sign up by clicking here.
