Almost 370 participants, over 100 volunteers, HUGE community support and God’s smile … the Inheritance of Hope 2013 Legacy Run 15K, 5K and Kids’ 1/2 Mile Fun Run took place on April 27, 2013. Gathering at Brevard College, Brevard, NC, for festivities and the start and finish – it was a great time for all!
Participants: Local runners joined us from North Carolina’s Transylvania, Buncombe and Henderson counties, as well as from Georgia, New York, Tennessee and South Carolina.
Volunteers: An army of volunteers worked the pasta dinner on Friday night, bib pick-up, and race day festivities. They set up, cleaned up, manned water stations, processed registrations, handed out runner bags, covered road intersections, took pictures, and helped in every possible way.
Community Support: Race sponsors, local law enforcement, emergency technicians, city planning board, Brevard College, running clubs, churches, businesses that hung flyers, etc. It takes a community to build a good community event!
God’s Smile: 70% chance of rain in a rain forest pretty much means it’s going to rain! Well, it didn’t! Thank you, God! And we are also thankful for everyone’s safety, provision, and blessed fellowship.
