Sharing Scoops and Stories: Hope Hub SoCal Meet-Up

Group of families smiling and eating ice cream at an outdoor meetup event.
What do you get when you combine big scoops of ice cream with genuine stories of resilience? A Hope Hub™ meet-up, where young families facing the terminal illness of a parent and life after loss get to link arms and turn challenges into community and hope!

A Sweet Gathering with a Purpose

On July 28, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream buzzed with families and friends, sharing laughter, hugs, and the kind of stories only those on this journey can truly understand. Handel’s wasn’t just about sweet treats—20% of all sales that evening supported Inheritance of Hope families, turning every dessert into a dose of hope. We are SO grateful for their generosity and absolutely loved partnering with them.

Stories That Remind Us Why We Gather

Over scoops of ice cream and sunshine, Sheeba’s story shines brightest. She drove an hour, not just for ice cream, but for connection. After losing her husband last September, she has been desperate for a Hope Hub™ to come to her community.
While she’s done grief support over the past year, she has been yearning for MORE—to be around other parents with young families in the same boat, other families who “get it.”
Our amazing volunteers Cheryl, Paul, and Ellen, have been championing for this family to get exactly what they deserve, right where they live—a local Hope Hub™!
For Sheeba’s children, these gatherings are so important. Losing a parent is difficult and our community knows the heartache all too well. At Hope Hub™, these honest and emotional conversations, shared amongst families like hers, allow them to find real comfort.
This is why Hope Hubs™ matter—they’re lifelines, not just events, where folks can wade together through both the deep pain and find joy.

The Need for Hope Hubs™ in Southern California

The SoCal meet-up made it clear: more Hope Hubs™ are needed across the region. Families crave these connections, planting seeds of belonging that no one should have to live without.

SoCal kicked things off, but there are many more families who need a Hope Hub™ here. You can help bring sweetness and support to more communities. Contact Elena Styron to host an event near you: Elena@InheritanceOfHope.org
