Hope Hub™ Atlanta officially launched on June 28 with a “fintastic” day of connection and community at the Georgia Aquarium.
Families and volunteers began the gathering by sharing lunch and getting to know one another before exploring the aquarium together. The day gave families navigating terminal illness and loss an opportunity to step away from their normal routines, enjoy time together, and connect with others who understand their experiences.
One Hope Hub™ Atlanta mom reflected on what the gathering meant to her family:
“It was so much fun and time well spent. We were so happy to connect. Our kids had a blast. We are so grateful we had a moment to just enjoy each other.”
One of the sweetest moments of the day was watching two four-year-olds become instant best friends. The children quickly connected as they explored the aquarium, giving each of them a new friend whose family is also navigating terminal illness and loss.
Their friendship captured the purpose of Hope Hub™: creating local communities where families can feel understood and reminded that they are not alone.
Throughout the day, new friendships formed among everyone. Families had the opportunity to make joyful memories together while beginning relationships that can continue beyond a single event.
The launch marked an exciting beginning for Hope Hub™ Atlanta, and the community is already looking forward to gathering again in September.

Luke Douglas is a Business Administration student at Grand Canyon University and serves as a summer Marketing & Communications Intern with Inheritance of Hope. After attending a Legacy Retreat® with his family in 2017 while his father was living with ALS, Luke began volunteering at age 16. He has since served on multiple Legacy Retreats®, Hope@Home™ programs, and as a Legacy Video™ coach, and is passionate about helping families discover hope and connect to a community in the midst of difficult circumstances.
