For Families

Who is eligible for Inheritance of Hope programs?

Young families living with a parent’s terminal illness (any terminal diagnosis) and those facing life after loss.

What does it cost to participate?

Nothing. Inheritance of Hope services are completely free, thanks to generous donors.

My kids are very young/teenagers. Is there support for them?

Yes. We have age-appropriate resources, community, and support designed for everyone in your family–even the youngest members.

I’m not sure I’m ready to share my story. Can I still participate?

Absolutely. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you are comfortable with. Many families find comfort just by listening and knowing they’re not alone.

For Donors

Where does my donation go?

The cost of Inheritance of Hope services are covered by generous donors so families affected by terminal illness can participate freely. CharityWatch considers a charity highly efficient when 75% of its donations go to programs. With Inheritance of Hope, 83.9% of your generosity goes to programs for families facing terminal illness.

Is my donation tax-deductible and secure?

Yes. Inheritance of Hope is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, and all donations are tax-deductible within the guidelines of US law. You can give with confidence knowing that your gift and information are secure.

How can I see the impact of my gift?

Our annual Gratitude Report shares highlights on how donations are directly impacting families.

Can I donate in honor of someone?

Yes. When filling out the donation form, an option to give in honor or memory of someone will appear. You can share the name of who you are honoring and include an optional message for them or their family.

Can my donation be anonymous?

Yes. Our donation form allows the option for you to remain anonymous. Your name will not be publicly shared on fundraising pages, honor/memorial gifts, or anywhere else donor names may be displayed.

For Volunteers

What is the time commitment for volunteering?

Time commitment varies with each volunteer opportunity, providing you with the ability to serve however best fits your schedule. Some roles are weekly, while others may be quarterly or project-based.

Do I need special training or skills?

With many on-site and online opportunities, we have roles for a variety of skillsets, including encouragement and listening, creativity, tech, admin, fundraising, and more. During the volunteer process, our team will provide specific training and support to equip you in your role.

Are there remote volunteer opportunities?

Yes. We have many remote volunteer opportunities within our programs and behind-the-scenes teams.

What are the requirements to serve?

Volunteers must be 16 or older to serve with Inheritance of Hope. Volunteer roles (online v. on-site v. behind the scenes) have different onboarding requirements. Please use our application to learn more.
