Bittersweet

Three days ago we arrived as virtual strangers, and now we are saying goodbye to wonderful friends.

There is no doubt everyone involved in this 2011 Disney Legacy Retreat, from staff and volunteers to family members, is leaving this weekend changed.  Tommy Booth said that the Inheritance of Hope Legacy Retreat was perfect for his family: “I’ve never seen my mom smile this much.”

This morning we gathered for our closing service, where we shared a slideshow of photos from the weekend and listened to co-founder Kristen Milligan share her life story.  As the families prepared to go into the parks and the volunteers gathered their luggage, we exchanged big hugs and promised to keep in touch.

We all had a great time at Disney World, and we are all leaving with precious memories of very special people.

Jill, I wanted to thank you very much for all that you have done with my brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Kristi. From the pictures and the text that I have recieved from Mike I know that is was a great time and possitive influence. I have not seen or heard the smiles and possitive attidude that they displayed this weekend with you. It is wonderful that there is an organization out there that helps families when they are faced with the sentance that theses families were given. To see so many smiles and laughter when there hasnt been much is amazing. Again thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

It was a privilege to serve your brother and sister-in-law and an honor to meet them. They are an amazing couple with beautiful children. It was a whole team of people who loved on them this weekend not just me. We were happy to do it!!!
