A New Day…More Fun!

This morning it is a little bit cooler and cloudy in the Big Apple.

Most of the families were a little later down to breakfast this morning, feeling the tiredness from an amazing a busy day yesterday.  After filling their bellies with the Novotel’s delicious breakfast spread everyone was able to perk up to begin a fun and full day in the city.

We all had our morning meetings.  Today the sick parent and the caregiver split up into separate groups to talk about some of their experiences and concerns.  The children continued to enjoy the expertise of our fantastic counselors, Meg and Meredith, as well as all of our wonderful volunteers.

Following the morning sessions, everyone set off to enjoy a few hours of free time.  They were all given tickets to enjoy the “Top of the Rock” tour where they will experience breathtaking views of New York City from atop Rockefeller Center. They were also given some money to enjoy lunch. Many families were excited to try Ellen’s Stardust Diner where the wait staff are all aspiring Broadway stars who sing and dance while they serve the food.

The Knox Family at the Museum of Natural History

During free time some of the families were planning to go to the Museum of Natural History, Central Park, The American Girl Doll Store, and Chinatown.

At 5:00pm we will give all the parents gift cards for an amazing dinner out.  They will get to relax and enjoy their time alone and they will also be given the opportunity to record a Legacy Video and speak with the Children’s counselors regarding their children.

During this time our amazing set of volunteers will accompany the children to Toys R Us and Hard Rock Cafe.  It’s going to be a great night!
