Storm Chasers - October 2016

Hurricane Matthew is quickly approaching Florida’s east coast, and a bunch of hope-inspirers are leaving their comfortable homes and flying, driving, swimming their way to Orlando to serve 19 families facing storms much bigger than this hurricane.

These families have been counting down the days until their Legacy Retreat, and no hurricane is going to spoil this priceless experience for them.

IoH Miracle on 34th Street

This Miracle on 34th Street was just the beginning of a beautiful  partnership between Tony and Inheritance of Hope. Since that Legacy Retreat in 2015 he has continued to provide front row, VIP seating for Inheritance of Hope families at the Saks 5th Avenue Holiday Light Show each year. We are tremendously grateful for this man who has opened his heart to bless Inheritance of Hope families.

The NYC 2015 New York City Legacy Retreat® was a spectacular success! 18 families came to New York City and made memories together, laughed together, gleaned useful insights to help their families, and were inspired to leave lasting legacies. These things, in and of themselves, are not miracles. But, there were plenty of miracles dispersed among the streets of Manhattan as these families spent 4 days there.

8 Back to School Tips for Being Intentional

  1. SET ASIDE TIME TO PLAN YOUR WEEK (MEALS, SCHEDULE, ETC.)

Back to school season is hectic. In order to prevent your family from unraveling, consider placing a family calendar where everyone can see it and include activities, assignments, and meal plans for the week or month.

  1. TURN ON YOUR VOICE RECORDER

Use your voice memo phone app to record everyday conversations with your children. Push the record button while they are eating their after-school snack, while driving to sports practice, or during your bedtime routine. (The conversation flows better and is more genuine if they don’t realize you are recording. Be a ninja!) If your phone is regularly backed up those recordings will be safely secured on your computer or hard drive for years to come! Record yourself from time to time too - this is part of your legacy that everyone will appreciate.

More Life

381525007303

Kristen Milligan passed away  one year ago tomorrow. She was a truly amazing person and my very best friend. One of her favorite verses is found in James 1:2-4 and she referenced it often in her speaking engagements, books, and daily life. This is what it says in the modern day Message translation of the bible:

"Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way."

A 10 Year Old’s Perspective

A 10 Year Old’s Perspective
Written by Andrean Maier (She is attending the May 2013 Legacy Retreat with her family.) I am the middlest child. I am 10. And I have another perspective. You know that over the last few months my mom has been struggling with stage 4 ovarian cancer. ...

Be Real

I read an article this week that really impacted me.  The writer sat at a playground with a friend/acquaintance and they chatted as they watched their kids play.  They had spent many hours at this playground on different days and yet they barely knew each other.  I mean, they knew the superficial basics about each other but they didn't REALLY know each other.

Invisible Bucket

There is a beautiful blond 7 year old girl named Ana battling a brain tumor.  She already fought it once when she was three and then was given a break until this past Fall when it reared it's ugly head again.  Her parents are facing some very tough decisions regarding treatment and care.  I love what her mom writes in one of her updates. (Elsa is Ana's little sister.)

Elsa taught us about our invisible bucket one day after school.
