Support Families and Children Facing the Life-Threatening Illness of a Parent PDF print email

Inheritance of Hope offers Family Retreats at no cost for children and families living with a terminally ill parent.  If you would like to help these young families build their legacy, please consider how your financial resources can change their lives.  Thank you for your generosity!

Supplies

All Inheritance of Hope Legacy Retreat families receive complimentary supplies.  These include Inheritance of Hope t-shirts, a children's activity book for each child, and a scrapbooking album.

Activities

Your Legacy Retreats feature fun activities that build lifelong memories for your special families.  We take care of all the planning and costs so you can share once-in-a-lifetime experiences worry-free.  These activities have included white water rafting, dinner cruises, days in theme parks, Broadway plays, snow tubing, and trips to the New York Museum of Natural History.

Retreat Staff

Inheritance of Hope provides a licensed counselor and a child specialist for your Retreat families.  Their expertise is an invaluable resource for parents and children alike who choose to take advantage of their availability.  Our Retreats also feature numerous volunteer staff to make your family's time as relaxing as possible, and all volunteers raise their own financial support to keep our costs low.

Transportation

In order to ensure your family's relaxation for the entire Retreat experience, Inheritance of Hope covers all transportation costs involved in getting to and returning from the event.  This allows you to arrive at the Retreats stress-free and return home without the burden of travel expenses.  Click here if you are interested in donating frequent flyer miles.

Food

All food for your Legacy Retreats is provided free of charge -- breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.  Parents are also treated to a private date night in which you spend time alone at the restaurant of your choice while we take care of the kids and pick up the tab.  No cooking, no cleanup, no cost -- just great food!

Lodging

Inheritance of Hope is proud to be a Six Flags Friends partner, and this greatly reduces our expenses for lodging.  However, this continues to be a major factor in our budget considerations.  We place the highest priority on your family's comfort and rest, so high-quality lodging is a critical feature of every Retreat.

Full Retreat Experience

Inheritance of Hope's Legacy Retreats are unique opportunities specially designed for young families with a terminally ill parent.  They provide memory-making activities, rest and relaxation away from the cycle of medical bills and appointments, and a caring community of support that can geuninely relate to the challenges of life-threatening illness in a young family.  Our staff works hard to plan and facilitate great Retreats, and your financial support makes it possible for these families to enjoy them.  Add up all of the features described above, plus the time and efforts of our full-time staff, and the total cost is right at $1,000 per person.
