WELCOME TO KIM'S PAGE!

Support Kim!Everyone starts their fundraising webpage talking about how long they have been “running” and how motivated they are by the prospect of this half marathon.  Well, I have never been a runner nor had ANY desire to run any distance, but I felt I could not pass up this local opportunity to support Inheritance of Hope.  However, my plan is to WALK.  So that will be me… the “walker” of the team.  Of course no one mentioned to me that a HALF marathon is 13 miles long.  “Have you started training yet?” my brother-in-law asked me recently.  “Training?” I replied.  “Of course I have been training!  I have been walking just about every day of my life!  I was BORN training for this WALK!”

Seriously now, I have never done anything REMOTELY like this before.  Right about early November I started to panic a little bit.  How am I ever going to find the time to “train?”  Are people going to yell at me because I am walking slowly, and maybe breathing hard?  Then I thought about Kristen and the “marathon” she has been running for the last five years.  How can I complain or lose faith when she has come through SO MUCH.  How can I worry about ONE day, when she has been fighting for five years?

Now that the “forever together” I had planned with my sister has been threatened, I pray every day for God to give Kris the strength to fight another day.  And of course I pray for Him to heal her here on earth, so that her children and her husband won’t have to live without her.

Please consider a donation to Inheritance of Hope to help families just like Kristen’s get the support they need while building memories and hopefully strengthening their relationship with God.  I pray that our combined donations and support will help Kris feel wrapped in such love and support by man and God, that she is healed.  There are thousands of families that still need her presence in their lives, even if they don’t know it (or her) yet.

My fundraising goal is $2300 (which does not include medical and physical therapy bills for me after attempting this “run”) because I am not only participating in the run, but staying for the family retreat to volunteer and I need to pay for my own room and board.  Thank you in advance for considering a donation, and remember that it is tax deductible and goes to a great cause… so don’t forget those extra couple zeros!  And while you are making your donation, be sure to sign up for Inheritance of Hope’s monthly update, which is very inspiring.  Thank you so much!

As a member of Team Inheritance of Hope, my participation in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon on January 9, 2010 will raise funds and awareness for Inheritance of Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving families with children who have a parent with a life-threatening illness.  Help me meet (or exceed!) my commitment of $2,300.  With your contribution, we can share together in the joy of helping to build legacies for families who are facing a tremendous challenge in their lives.

Inheritance of Hope coordinates and hosts Family Retreats for families with children under 18 who have a parent with a life-threatening illness. Because of generous supporters like you, their Retreats are provided at absolutely no cost to the participating families. These events offer unique and fun activities for parents and children together, forming precious, lifelong memories for the whole family. They also create a community of people who find comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their struggles. Just as importantly, these Retreats are restful – a rare luxury for ill parents.  Beyond the Family Retreats, Inheritance of Hope also offers a scholarship, inspirational literature, and speaking engagements that address the deep needs of these families.

Inheritance of Hope is a young organization with a big vision. In the United States, there are over one million family members facing the challenges of a parent’s terminal illness. These families’ entire lives become consumed by the illness, leaving them without the resources to plan or pay for meaningful family time. Inheritance of Hope’s vision is that “Every Family Deserves a Legacy.”®

Thanks for your support!!!
Inheritance of Hope is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, EIN 75-3243566.  All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
