Support Kathey!

I’ve never been a runner, and at age 53 it seems an unlikely undertaking to take on the rigors of a half marathon.  But on March 21 I will run my first half marathon in NYC.  I am committed to training and running to support this most worthy cause, Inheritance of  Hope.

Deric’s words in an IOH devotional stayed with me: “If Kristen can go through all that she has, surely I can run a mile or two.”  I am inspired by Deric and Kristen’s devotion to each other and to their sweet young family as they face the constant and daunting challenges of Kristen’s terminal illness.  I am even more inspired by their concern and desire to help others facing similar circumstances through Inheritance of Hope.

IOH provides a unique and wonderful ministry to families with children where a parent is terminally ill.  Family retreats are provided at no cost to families.  Through these retreats families find meaningful support, interact and develop relationships with other families dealing with the same issues, and they are provided wonderful opportunities to create lasting memories with their own families.

Join me in support of IOH and the ministry it gives to families in crisis.

As a member of Team Inheritance of Hope, my participation in the NYC Half Marathon on March 21, 2010 will raise funds and awareness for Inheritance of Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving families with children who have a parent with a life-threatening illness.  Help me meet (or exceed!) my goal of $1,000.  With your contribution, we can share together in the joy of helping to build legacies for families who are facing a tremendous challenge in their lives.

Inheritance of Hope coordinates and hosts Family Retreats for families with children under 18 who have a parent with a life-threatening illness. Because of generous supporters like you, their Retreats are provided at absolutely no cost to the participating families. These events offer unique and fun activities for parents and children together, forming precious, lifelong memories for the whole family. They also create a community of people who find comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their struggles. Just as importantly, these Retreats are restful – a rare luxury for ill parents.  Beyond the Family Retreats, Inheritance of Hope also offers a scholarship, inspirational literature, and speaking engagements that address the deep needs of these families.

Inheritance of Hope is a young organization with a big vision. In the United States, there are over one million family members facing the challenges of a parent’s terminal illness. These families’ entire lives become consumed by the illness, leaving them without the resources to plan or pay for meaningful family time. Inheritance of Hope’s vision is that “Every Family Deserves a Legacy.”®

Thanks for your support!!!
