WELCOME TO HEATHER'S PAGE!
I started running in July. I was inspired by my husband’s dedication to training for and competing in his first triathlon. I’ve run in the past, but this time I wanted to challenge myself and commit to running a road race, a 5K or maybe even an 8K. I accomplished that goal this October by running a 5K, 8K, and a 10K. Back in July I never would have imagined I would now be training for a ½ marathon. I have been enjoying all the benefits of running, but now I will be running for more than what it does for me. I am so excited to be running the Walt Disney World ½ Marathon with Team Inheritance of Hope. This is the perfect opportunity for me to support my friend, Kristen, who founded Inheritance of Hope while fighting her own battle against a rare form of liver cancer. She is an inspiration to all who know her and I am proud to be able to support her, the organization and the families who benefit from it.
As a member of Team Inheritance of Hope, my participation in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon on January 9, 2010 will raise funds and awareness for Inheritance of Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving families with children who have a parent with a life-threatening illness. Help me meet (or exceed!) my goal of $1,200. With your contribution, we can share together in the joy of helping to build legacies for families who are facing a tremendous challenge in their lives.
Inheritance of Hope coordinates and hosts Family Retreats for families with children under 18 who have a parent with a life-threatening illness. Because of generous supporters like you, their Retreats are provided at absolutely no cost to the participating families. These events offer unique and fun activities for parents and children together, forming precious, lifelong memories for the whole family. They also create a community of people who find comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their struggles. Just as importantly, these Retreats are restful – a rare luxury for ill parents. Beyond the Family Retreats, Inheritance of Hope also offers a scholarship, inspirational literature, and speaking engagements that address the deep needs of these families. Inheritance of Hope is a young organization with a big vision. In the United States, there are over one million family members facing the challenges of a parent’s terminal illness. These families’ entire lives become consumed by the illness, leaving them without the resources to plan or pay for meaningful family time. Inheritance of Hope’s vision is that “Every Family Deserves a Legacy.”® Thanks for your support!!!
Inheritance of Hope is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, EIN 75-3243566. All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
