Inheritance of Hope

Inheritance of Hope is a young organization with a big vision. We serve families that have a young parent diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. We provide all-expenses-paid Legacy Retreats and ongoing support to these families.

Inheritance of Hope strives to serve the entire family when a parent with children under 18 is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.  We offer a community of support where parents can encourage and support one another, and where children can meet other children who understand their fears and struggles.  We offer professional counselors who advise and encourage both the parents and the children.  We offer memories for families to cherish for a lifetime, regardless of whether their parent lives a month or another 60 years.

Event Description

  • On Saturday morning, it's “Runners to your mark!” for the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Half Marathon. 2012 will mark the 15th anniversary of the Half Marathon race and they're celebrating with a special edition commemorative Donald Duck medal for all participants. Whether you're a first timer or veteran, this race is perfect for you. The 13.1-mile course will lead you through Magic Kingdom® Park on your way to a thrilling finish at Epcot®. Don't miss this exciting race as they celebrate Donald's 15 years of running at the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Marathon Weekend!

    Run for families as you celebrate this year's 15th anniversary of the Disney Half Marathon!  Help by raising funds that will be used to serve families with a parent experiencing a life-threatening illness.

    Once registering on the Inheritance of Hope website, each runner will be registered by Inheritance of Hope with Disney.  Your credit card will then be charged for the registration amount.  A refund will be given to you for the registration amount upon reaching your fundraising commitment level.

    What do I get?

    1. Inheritance of Hope refunds the race registration amount you paid for the Disney Half Marathon when your fundraising commitment is met!

    2. private Team pasta dinner. Aside from hearing brief stories of how your money will make a difference and meeting your fellow Team IOH runners, you will enjoy an amazing (carbo load) meal.  Many runners have told us that during the difficult miles of their race, they were motivated by picturing the families they have helped to serve.  WOW! This is a very special dinner that you will not want to miss!

    3. technical race day shirt and Inheritance of Hope hat

    4. use of our online Bart Yasso training schedules - designed for Newbies, Seasoned and Hard-core half-marathoners.  Train and compare notes with other teammates around the country.

    5. extensive online fundraising resources - to make your fundraising effort simple and successful.

    6. access to the Team IOH online community.  Get to know your fellow teammates throughout the months preceding the race.

    7. the top fundraiser will win a Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS-Enabled Sports Watch with Heart Rate Monitor!  Funds received by December 15, 2011 will be counted towards this incentive.

    8. three complimentary nights at the DoubleTree Suites in Downtown Disney for those runners choosing fundraising Option 1 below.

    What is my fundraising commitment?

    Runners are required to raise a minimum of $1000 by January 3, 2012.

    If you are a returning Team IOH member, the minimum to raise is $500.00 by January 3, 2012.

    Option 1: Commit to raise $1800 and receive 3 complimentary nights at the DoubleTree Suites in Downtown Disney during the Marathon Weekend.  Notify Lisa Duscio, lisa@inheritanceofhope.org, if you desire to take advantage of this opportunity.

    Applicants are required to provide credit card information as a guarantee.  Your credit card will only be charged for the balance remaining if we have not received donations totaling $1000 by January 3, 2012. ($500 for returning Team IOH members or $1800 for those runners choosing Option 1).

    There is a 30 day period after you sign up to withdraw your name from the Team Inheritance of Hope roster for the 2012 Disney Half Marathon - with NO OBLIGATION to the fundraising commitment.  Race registration paid will not be refunded. Registrations received after November 1, 2011 do not qualify for the No Obligation trial period.

    The registration form is prepopulated with "0.00" as the amount.  To avoid your card being charged when you sign up, please leave the amount as "0.00" and ensure the comment field indicates Disney Half Marathon.
