I Got Your Back!

I got your back

Recently I saw this cartoon and it really made me laugh.  What a silly expression of a phrase that we use often for encouragement and strength for those we care about.

I remember (way back) in high school when I first heard this phrase and some tough guys were planning a fight.  One of the guys said to his buddy, “I got your back.”

Basically he was saying, “if you need me I’m right behind you”…”when things are going badly for you I will step in and be on your team”…”you’re not alone”…”I’m with you in this”. Read the rest of this entry »

Most Likely to Succeed

Friday, May 13th, 2011 by Jill Thompson

So…listen to this conversation from the backseat of my minivan the other day.  DSC_0087

Elizabeth: “Do I have any money in the bank?”

Me: “Yes, it is for college.”

Elizabeth: “I plan on working really hard at the piano and soccer so I can get a scholarship for college. Then what happens to that money?”

Me: “You can use it for something else, like a car.”

Elizabeth: (with wide eyes and big dreams) “Cael, what are you going to work hard at so you can get a scholarship for college?”

Cael: (with very little hesitation) “I don’t really feel like working that hard at anything….I’ll just use the money in the bank.”

Are you kidding me?!?! Guess I’m going to have to keep working on that one.

The weather continued to amaze us all day today as the temperatures remained around 60 degrees all afternoon and evening.  The families walked about 4 blocks to Radio City Music Hall after lunch and enjoyed the legendary Christmas Spectacular Show featuring the Rockettes.  The children and adults alike were thrilled with the show and also the drinks and popcorn they got to enjoy during it. A Beautiful Day in NYC

Another beautiful day in the city.  We enjoyed another magnificent breakfast at the Hotel Novotel at 8:30 this morning.  While we ate, we watched four guys change a large billboard.  It was impressive to watch, especially at eye level!  The weather is warmer today.  As I write, it’s 64 degrees – toasty considering it’s almost December.

After breakfast, everyone headed up to 73rd for our meeting time.  Parents had a great session talking about legacy.  Linda Stoll, the counselor who skillfully facilitates these sessions said “the session went fabulously and the parents did great work.” Read the rest of this entry »
