Poor Cat

May 11th, 2012 by Jill Thompson

cat

I am not a cat lover.  However, tonight when the car in front of me accidentally ran over a cat I shivered and shreeked. I felt sad for that poor kitty and the owner who was currently ignorant to that fact that the cat was gone.

Why on earth did the cat bolt out so quickly into the road when cars were speeding by in both directions? Why couldn’t she just wait a few minutes for a clear path so she could cross safely? Read the rest of this entry »

Finding Courage

May 4th, 2012 by Jill Thompson

I read something recently about courage and what it means.  Does it make you think of respect, strength, assurance, endurance, bravery of spirit and conduct?  How does it fit in with fear?  Fear can be such a debilitating feeling in our lives, yet once we conquer it, it can produce feelings of freedom, relief, and even excitement.   Read the rest of this entry »

The Whole Body

April 27th, 2012 by Jill Thompson

keyboard

I am not a very fast typist. However, to my children (ages 10 and 8) I am a superstar typist.

When my children walk into the room and I am working on my computer they usually comment on how fast my fingers are moving on the keyboard.  They are amazed at the clicking sound my nails make when I type quickly and they often try to replicate it when they play on the computer. Clearly, my fingers are important for typing but my brain, my eyes, and my internal organs are all functioning to help me. Read the rest of this entry »

The Journey and the View from the Top

April 20th, 2012 by Jill Thompson

I live in the mountains and it still amazes me how awe struck I can be at any moment.  The mountains are the same, but with just the right light and any given time of year they look different.  They look more beautiful and breath-taking everyday.  Some days it is because it is a crystal clear day and other days it is because of the way the fog has settled in or is lifting.  Here is a story I read from You Changed My Life by Max Lucado that really made me think about the mountains in our lives and the daily journey we have throughout our lives. A Kiss of Kindness

April 13th, 2012 by Jill Thompson
A Kiss of Kindness

A Kiss of Kindness

“Kind hearts are quietly kind. They let the car cut into traffic and the young mom with three kids move up in the checkout line. They pick up the neighbor’s trashcan that rolled into the street.”

It really is the little things in life that mean so much. We all have opportunities to do these little things for each other, but we also have the opportunity to receive these gifts of kindness. Read the rest of this entry »

Tides and Waves

April 6th, 2012 by Jill Thompson

DSC_0039I just spent a few days at the beach with my family for Spring Break. It was wonderful! My parents recently moved into a condo that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and I really enjoyed standing out on their balcony and listening to the waves come in and out constantly.

Sometimes they were gentle and other times they were quite rough, but one thing was certain, they were never still.  The waves kept coming and the tide rose and fell. Read the rest of this entry »

Life’s Most Urgent Question

March 2nd, 2012 by Jill Thompson

I was reading an article the other day that proposed “life’s most urgent question”.

It was not…

1) Where is the best sale today?

2)Who is the prettiest/sexiest/wealthiest person alive?

3) What is the most lucrative career?

It was….

What are you doing for others?

I love this! Read the rest of this entry »

Today’s the day!

February 4th, 2012 by Shelly Storm

Hurray!  Today is the day we’ve been looking forward to — the beginning of the February 2012 Disney Legacy Retreat!  The staff and volunteers are in Orlando and are so looking forward to picking up all the wonderful families soon. We are very excited to meet and welcome 12 families and 35 staff and volunteers from Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, Michigan, Kansas, New York, Georgia, and North Carolina.  The Double Tree hotel has been extremely gracious to us, making us feel very comfortable.

We are coming from many places to share an amazing Legacy Retreat!

If you haven’t already, please join the Fans Group to see updated pictures, videos and posts each day.
