WELCOME TO BETSY'S PAGE!
Many of you have prayed with me the past 4 years for Kristen Milligan. I was introduced to Kristen by my friend Jill and have followed her battle with terminal cancer as she sets an example of faith and strength through surgeries, chemo, radiation, home-schooling, family vacations, speaking at Christian events and also as a wife and the mother of 3 young kids. Kristen and her husband, Deric, have created a Christian non-profit organization to support and encourage families with a parent facing life-threatening illness. Inheritance of Hope coordinates and hosts Family Retreats for families with children under 18 who have a parent with a life-threatening illness. These events offer unique and fun activities for parents and children together, forming precious, lifelong memories for the whole family. They also create a community of people who find comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their struggles. Just as importantly, these Retreats are restful – a rare luxury for ill parents. Beyond the Family Retreats, Inheritance of Hope also offers inspirational literature and speaking engagements that address the deep needs of these families. I have been incredibly touched by Kristen’s testimony, following her journey and especially hearing the way she has seen God provide glimpses of great work He is doing through her fight against this cancer.
This year has brought several reminders of how precious and unpredictable life is; my family is blessed right now with great health and I am happy to have a way to physically support Inheritance of Hope. I am using my participation in the Walt Disney World 1/2 Marathon on January 9, 2010 to raise funds and awareness for Inheritance of Hope. What is especially exciting is that a family retreat will be going on at the same time as the race, so I will have a chance to meet the families who are experiencing the Christian influence of an Inheritance of Hope retreat. You can see pictures from a past summer retreat at this link: http://inheritanceofhope.org/family-retreats/highlight-videos.html. Because of generous supporters like you, these retreats are provided at absolutely no cost to the participating families. I would love to encourage you to continue to pray for the Milligan family, Inheritance of Hope and the marathon in January. As you are planning year end giving, please help me reach – or even exceed! – my goal of $2,000 by sponsoring me in this event. With your tax-deductible contribution to Inheritance of Hope, we can share in the joy of helping to build legacies for families who are facing a tremendous challenge.
If you would rather send a check made out to Inheritance of Hope with my name in the memo, that is great too.
Thanks for your support! Love, Betsy
Inheritance of Hope As a member of Team Inheritance of Hope, my participation in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon on January 9, 2010 will raise funds and awareness for Inheritance of Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving families with children who have a parent with a life-threatening illness. Help me meet (or exceed!) my commitment of $2,000. With your contribution, we can share together in the joy of helping to build legacies for families who are facing a tremendous challenge in their lives. Inheritance of Hope coordinates and hosts Family Retreats for families with children under 18 who have a parent with a life-threatening illness. Because of generous supporters like you, their Retreats are provided at absolutely no cost to the participating families. These events offer unique and fun activities for parents and children together, forming precious, lifelong memories for the whole family. They also create a community of people who find comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their struggles. Just as importantly, these Retreats are restful – a rare luxury for ill parents. Beyond the Family Retreats, Inheritance of Hope also offers a scholarship, inspirational literature, and speaking engagements that address the deep needs of these families. Inheritance of Hope is a young organization with a big vision. In the United States, there are over one million family members facing the challenges of a parent’s terminal illness. These families’ entire lives become consumed by the illness, leaving them without the resources to plan or pay for meaningful family time. Inheritance of Hope’s vision is that “Every Family Deserves a Legacy.”® Thanks for your support!!!
Inheritance of Hope is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, EIN 75-3243566. All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
