WELCOME TO ALISA'S PAGE!
Hey Everyone, I am so excited to be part of a wonderful organization that provides such an incredible service to parents who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and their families. As some of you may know, my husband Jimmy was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma at a young age. Not a day passes by that we are not reminded of the widespread devastation of cancer and how it truly affects every aspect of life. I truly believe that Jimmy is a gift from God, and without the support of his friends, families, and charities such as Inheritance of Hope he would not have received a second chance at life. Such diseases certainly affect more than just the patient themselves; they become an illness shared by families and friends alike in which ups and downs are shared equally by everyone involved. On March 21, I will be running for my incredible husband that I could not imagine my life without. His perserverance is incredible and his absolute love for life is contagious. Without him I would be lost without a purpose in life. But now that my husband and I have experienced and seen firsthand the devastation of what patients and family members endure while battling a terminal illness, we have made it our priority in life to become involved in organizations such as Inheritance of Hope that remind us of how delicate life can be. Thank you so very much for helping me to raise money for these courageous families who have been forever changed by a terminal illness. Your donation will aid in giving them some normalcy in what seems like a life spiraling out of their control while allowing them to feel like a family once again. Alisa As a member of Team Inheritance of Hope, my participation in the NYC Half Marathon on March 21, 2010 will raise funds and awareness for Inheritance of Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving families with children who have a parent with a life-threatening illness. Help me meet (or exceed!) my goal of $1,000. With your contribution, we can share together in the joy of helping to build legacies for families who are facing a tremendous challenge in their lives. Inheritance of Hope coordinates and hosts Family Retreats for families with children under 18 who have a parent with a life-threatening illness. Because of generous supporters like you, their Retreats are provided at absolutely no cost to the participating families. These events offer unique and fun activities for parents and children together, forming precious, lifelong memories for the whole family. They also create a community of people who find comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their struggles. Just as importantly, these Retreats are restful – a rare luxury for ill parents. Beyond the Family Retreats, Inheritance of Hope also offers a scholarship, inspirational literature, and speaking engagements that address the deep needs of these families. Inheritance of Hope is a young organization with a big vision. In the United States, there are over one million family members facing the challenges of a parent’s terminal illness. These families’ entire lives become consumed by the illness, leaving them without the resources to plan or pay for meaningful family time.
